The Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe enjoyed their annual
Champagne Brunch on Sunday, January 26 at Jose’s Cantina. With about 80 people
in attendance, Jose and his staff served a delicious menu featuring a variety
of hearty breakfast food and fresh fruit. The Brunch featured the revealing of
the new 2020 Mardi Gras King and Queen. This year’s court included Danny J Davis and Becky L Davis, Jeff Butler and Marie Butler, along with JR James Ferguson and Terry Molloy. JR was lucky enough to be left the
last cupcake that had the “Baby" hidden inside making him our 2020 King and
he selected his very good friend Terry Molloy for our 2020 Queen.
The Silent Auction was a tremendous success due
to many local businesses and Krewe members who donated items and services. With
the proceeds from the auction, the Krewe is able to finance many of the
activities that serve the local community, such as, the Mardi Gras Parade, High
Island Scholarship Fund, Toy Drive, Crystaland Parade and much more!
The Krewe wishes to thank the many members and
local businesses who helped make it one of the most successful events to date,
mainly due to the members who bid on and bought the fabulous baskets.
Businesses who were able to donate this year include: Alexanne Aesthetics,
Beachcombers Salon, The Big Store-Gulf Coast Market, G’s Molcajete, Jose’s Cantina,
Island Liquor, Tiki Loco, Tricoast Insurance, Mamma Mia’s Italian Bistro, and
Ocean Grille. The Krewe members who contributed include Jeff and Marie Butler,
Guy and Gail Parker Gatewood, Mark Hunstiger
and Mavis Hunstiger, Wayne and Vicki
Mouton, Grant and Connie Noble, L. Allen Skiles, Bobby Spirko and Lydia Spirko, and David Walker and Gloria Vaughn Walker.

The Mardi Gras Ball is set for February 8th from 6-11pm at Jose’s Cantina. The
30th Annual Parade down Hwy 87 will be February 22nd beginning at 11:30am.
Parade application forms can be picked up at Swede’s Real Estate or Bolivar

Winner of the Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe Ball Umbrella Contest is none other than Dixie Rohan presented with her award by Queen Terry Molloy & King James Ferguson & the Umbrella Designer was Mavis Hunstiger presented with an award by Fran & Larry Skiles There were so many beautiful Umbrellas at the Ball. Thank you to all the ladies that participated to make this event a success!
Our 1st Annual Mardi Gras Mask Contest at the Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe Ball was so fun! Winners were Lydia Parker Spirko & Bobby Spirko presented with ribbons from our Queen Terry Molloy & King James Ferguson made by Fran & Larry Skiles!
